The Society was formed in 1936 as Sale Operatic and Dramatic Society our aim has been to bring top-quality musical theatre at affordable prices to the local community. In 2000 the society name changed to Sale & Altrincham Musical Theatre, (Sam Theatre as its affectionately known) to reflect the modernisation of the society.
Our regular performing venue has been the Altrincham Garrick Theatre since 1966, with the exception of our autumn 1998 and spring 1999 shows at the Club Theatre during the Garrick's refurbishment. We produce two shows per year, in spring at the Club Theatre and autumn at the Garrick, presenting a varied repertoire, mostly slanted towards modern musicals but not forgetting the more traditional operettas.
